Marlin Jackson tore his ACL in practice on Wednesday and it will end his season.  Jackson played in 4 games for the Colts this season and he made 10 tackles, had 1 tackle for a loss, he defensed 1 pass and he had 1 interception.  This injury will hurt the depth of the Colts’ secondary but he wasn’t playing that well this season when he was healthy so the Colts won’t miss him too much.

The Indianapolis Colts lose Tyjuan Hagler for the year

The Colts have lost linebacker Tyjuan Hagler for the year due to a torn triceps muscle.  Hagler played in 7 games for the Colts this season and he made 26 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and he defensed 3 passes.  This will hurt the depth of a Colts’ D that has been very impressive so far this year.

The Indianapolis Colts lose Donald Brown for a while

The Indianapolis Colts will be without rookie running back Donald Brown for 2-3 weeks due to a deep shoulder contusion.  Brown has carried the ball 46 times for 212 yards (4.6 ypc) with 2 TD runs this season and he has also caught 7 passes for 138 yards (19.7 avg) so far this season.  Joseph Addai will likely see his workload increase if he’s up to it.  Addai has carried the ball 82 times for 274 yards (3.3 ypc) with 4 TD runs and he has also caught 27 passes for 156 yards (5.8 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Chad Simpson will get more playing time as Addai’s new back up with Brown out of action.  He has carried the ball 6 times for 44 yards (7.3 ypc) with 1 TD run and he has also caught 1 pass for 2 yards.  This is a big chance for Simpson to really show what he can do.

The Indianapolis Colts lose Adam Vinatieri and sign Matt Stover

The Colts have lost kicked Adam Vinatieri for at least the next six weeks after he underwent surgery to repair cartilage damage in his right knee.  Vinatieri has made 6 of 8 field goals (75%) this season and he has nailed all 17 of his extra points for 35 total points.  The Colts have signed 41-year old Matt Stover to fill in while Vinatieri is out of action and he is a darn good kicker himself.  He played in all 16 games last season for the Ravens and he made 27 of 33 field goals (81.8%) and he all made all 41 of his extra point attempts last season as he scored 122 points last season.  Stover has now kicked in 287 games in his NFL career and he has nailed 462 of 552 field goals (83.7%) and he has also converted 558 of 561 extra points.  Stover has scored 1,944 points in his NFL career.  The Colts were lucky to find a kicker as skilled as Stover sitting at home on the couch.

The Indianapolis Colts lose DE Dwight Freeney

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Colts News, Injury Reports, General Colts Chatter by admin on Tuesday 29 September 2009 at 2:39 pm

The Colts will be without starting DE Dwight Freeney for the next 2-3 weeks with a right quadriceps injury.  He has played in all three games for the Colts this season and he has 10 tackles, 4 sacks, he has forced 1 fumble and he has defensed 1 pass.  The Colts’ defense will definately suffer without Freeney as he is the best player on that side of the ball for the Colts.
