The Indianapolis Colts lose Jeff Saturday for a while

The Colts will be without starting center Jeff Saturday for the next 2-6 weeks due to knee surgery.  Jamey Richard will likely fill in at center until Saturday is ready to return to action.  Richard has played in 25 games (7 starts) in his two years with the Colts.  The Colts hope that Saturday returns soon because using Richard at center would be a huge dropoff.

Dwight Freeney is iffy for the Indianapolis Colts this weekend

29-year old DE Dwight Freeney might not be ready to play in the Super Bowl due to a torn ligament in his right ankle.  His game is speed so if he has a bad wheel I don’t see him helping the Colts much by playing.  This also hurts Robert Mathis on the other side of the Colts’ D-Line as the Saints will no doubt double team him all game long.  If the Colts can’t get a good pass rush on Drew Brees then this game has become a lot more interesting.  Freeney has 7 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss in his two playoff games so far.  He played in 14 games for the Colts during the regular season and he made 24 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, forced 1 fumble, he defensed 1 pass and he had 13.5 sacks.  The Colts can’t afford to be without Freeney in the Super Bowl, period.

The Indianapolis Colts lose Jim Sorgi for the year

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Injury Reports, General Colts Chatter by admin on Thursday 10 December 2009 at 10:43 am

The Colts have lost 29-year old QB Jim Sorgi for the year due to a shoulder injury.  Sorgi has played in 14 games for the Colts in his career and he has completed 99 of 156 passes (63.5%) for 929 yards with 6 TD passes and 1 INT (89.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 31 times for 0 yards (0.0 ypc).  This injury will force the Colts to use rookie QB Curtis Painter a lot late in the year when Sorgi used to get to play when the Colts have their playoff position locked up.

Anthony Gonzalez has another surgery putting his return to the Indianapolis Colts in doubt

Blogged under Front Page, Big Colts News, Injury Reports, General Colts Chatter by admin on Saturday 7 November 2009 at 2:48 pm

WR Anthony Gonzalez had arthroscopic knee surgery last Thursday and there is no timetable for his return.  He has not played at all this season for the Colts but somehow they have kept on trucking on offense.  They need Austin Collie (30 rec, 330 yards, 4 TDs) and Pierre Garcon (18 rec, 293 yards, 2 TDs) to keep up the good work in replacing Gonzalez if the offense is to continue to purr.

The Indianapolis Colts lose CB Kelvin Hayden for a while

The Colts will be without cornerback Kelvin Hayden for at least the next four weeks with a knee injury.  He has played in 4 games for the Colts this season and he has 18 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception.  This really cripples the depth of the secondary after the Colts learned that Bob Sanders and Marlin Jackson were out for the year.
