The Colts were in a tough battle today before prevailing in the end.  Peyton Manning completed 34 of 50 passes for 318 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  Joseph Addai was the other guy who had a really big game for the Colts today as he carried the ball 14 times for 63 yards (4.5 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 5 passes for 49 yards (9.8 avg) with a TD grab.  TE Dallas Clark was very busy for the Colts as he caught 14 passes for 119 yards (8.5 avg) today.  Reggie Wayne caught 8 passes for 64 yards (8.0 avg) today and he also threw an interception on his only pass attempt.  Pierre Garcon had his best game in a while as he caught 5 passes for 60 yards in this game.  The Colts rolled up 378 total yards on offense (72 rushing, 306 passing) in this game despite only having possession of the football for 25:27!

The defense of the Colts was in a bend but don’t break mode today.  Linebacker Clint Session led the way for the Colts in this game with 14 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception.  Rookie CB Jerraud Powers also had a big game for the Colts as he finished up with 10 tackles, 1 pass defensed 1 interception.  The Texans finished up with 382 total yards of offense (81 rushing, 301 passing) in this game.  The Colts are now 8-0 on the year.

The Colts were down 14-12 in this game before they dug deep in their bag of tricks and the result was a 22-yard TD pass from Joseph Addai to Reggie Wayne!  Then the defense made it stand up.  Peyton Manning was solid as usual completing 31 of 48 passes for 347 yards but he didn’t throw a TD or a pickoff.  Joseph Addai didn’t do much in this game other than throwing the game winning TD pass.  He carried the ball 20 times for 62 yards (3.1 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 4 yards (2.0 avg).  Reggie Wayne had a monster game with a groin that was smarting as he caught 12 passes for 147 yards (12.3 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Dallas Clark (8 rec, 99 yards), Austin Collie (6 rec, 66 yards) and Pierre Garcon (4 rec, 53 yards) all pitched in for the Colts in the passing game yesterday.  The Colts rolled up 410 total yards on offense (61 rushing, 349 passing) in this game.

The defense was solid for the Colts again yesterday.  Linebacker Clint Session led the way for the Colts in this game with 8 tackles.  Safety Antoine Bethea pitched in with 7 tackles and linebacker Philip Wheeler who had six tackles, 1 sack and 1 QB hit helped out big time on the D yesterday.  The Colts are now 7-0 on the season.

Indianapolis Colts 42, St. Louis Rams 6

The Colts did what they were supposed to do yesterday by absolutely dominating the Rams.  Peyton Manning was outstanding again as he completed 23 of 34 passes for 235 yards with 3 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Joseph Addai was so-so again carrying the ball 20 times for 64 yards (3.2 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Donald Brown carried the ball 2 times for 58 yards (29.0 ypc) yesterday.  Little used Chad Simpson even got in on the fun carrying the ball 3 times for 35 yards (11.7 ypc) with a TD.  Reggie Wayne was solid with 7 grabs for 83 yards (11.9 avg) with a TD.  TE Dallas Clark added 3 catches for 44 yards (14.7 avg) with a TD grab.  Rookie WR Austin Collie keeps rolling along as of last as he catches 4 passes for 36 yards (9.0 avg) and a TD grab.  The Colts finished up with 391 total yards on offense (156 rushing, 235 passing) in this game.

Safety Antoine Bethea led the way for the Colts in this game with 8 tackles.  CBs Jacob Lacey (4 tackles, pass defensed, 35-yard interception return for a TD) and Kelvin Hayden (4 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) also had outstanding games for the Colts on D in this game.  The Rams finished up with 272 total yards (155 rushing, 117 passing) in this game.  The Colts are now 6-0 on the season.

Indianapolis Colts 31, Tennessee Titans 9

Blogged under Game Recaps, Bloglockers, General Colts Chatter by Andrew on Monday 12 October 2009 at 9:36 am

The Indianapolis Colts (5-0) had no challenge Sunday against the Tennessee Titans (0-5) and beat them easily.  The Colts defense did not give up a touchdown and limited the Titans to three first half field goals.  They held Titan’s quarterback Kerry Collins to 164 yards on 19/32 attempts (59%) and had an interception.  They kept the Titans under 100 yards rushing and gave Peyton Manning plenty of time to do his thing.  Manning threw three touchdowns, going for 309 yards on 36/44 (82%) and throwing one pick.  Manning has now thrown for at least 300 yards in every game this season.  The Colts still couldn’t get much going on the ground, with Joseph Addai only getting 27 yards on 14 carries (1.9 avg), but they didn’t need it.

The Colts are on another level than the Titans and it was obvious in this game.  This was the Titans worst game offensively of the year, only getting a total of 245 yards.  Vince Young got some garbage time in the 4th quarter, but showed nothing.  Stopping the run was about the only thing the Titans did well.  The Colts definitely need their running game to improve, as Peyton Manning can’t do everything himself against the good teams in this league.  The Colts have a bye coming up.

Indianapolis Colts 34, Seattle Seahawks 17

This game was a laugher for the Colts as they were leading 34-3 late in the 4th quarter before the Seahawks got a couple of TDs in garbage time.  Peyton Manning was outstanding as usual for the Colts completing 31 of 41 passes for 353 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  Joseph Addai (46 yards rushing with a TD and 50 yards receiving) and Donald Brown (33 yards rushing with a TD and 13 yards receiving) gave the Colts solid work out of the backfield today.  Dallas Clark led the Colts in this in the passing game with 80 yards on 8 grabs (10.0 avg).  Reggie Wayne (6 rec, 74 yards) and Austin Collie (6 rec, 65 yards) each caught a TD apiece in this game for the Colts.  The Colts finished up with 431 total yards in this game (78 rushing, 353 passing).

The defense was outstanding for the Colts in this game.  CB Melvin Bullett led the way for the Colts with 7 tackles and 1 of them was for a loss.  DE Robert Mathis was unblockable in this game as he finished up with 6 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss and he hit Seneca Wallace 4 times.  The Seahawks finished up with 279 total yards in this game (49 passing, 230 passing).  The Colts are now 4-0 on the season as they sit atop of the AFC South.
