The Indianapolis Colts lose Jim Sorgi for the year

The Colts have lost 29-year old QB Jim Sorgi for the year due to a shoulder injury.  Sorgi has played in 14 games for the Colts in his career and he has completed 99 of 156 passes (63.5%) for 929 yards with 6 TD passes and 1 INT (89.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 31 times for 0 yards (0.0 ypc).  This injury will force the Colts to use rookie QB Curtis Painter a lot late in the year when Sorgi used to get to play when the Colts have their playoff position locked up.

Indianapolis Colts 27, Tennessee Titans 17

The Colts never really felt under any pressure earlier today against the division rival Titans.  Peyton Manning completed 24 of 37 passes for 270 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Joseph Addai was very busy today with 21 carries for 79 yards (3.8 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also caught 3 passes for 17 yards (5.7 avg).  Pierre Garcon led the way in the passing game for the Colts today with 6 catches for 136 yards (22.7 avg).  WRs Reggie Wayne (4 rec, 48 yards) and Austin Collie (4 rec, 18 yards, TD) also helped out Peyton Manning today.   The Colts finished up with 358 total yards on offense in this game (88 rushing, 270 passing).

Linebacker Clint Session led a bend but don’t break defense of the Colts today with 13 tackles.  CB Melvin Bullitt (12 tackles) and LB Gary Brackett (10 tackles) each pitched in to help the D for the Colts today.  The Titans finished up with 375 total yards on offense (142 rushing, 233 passing) in his game.  The Colts are now 12-0 on the year.

Tennessee Titans vs. Indianapolis Colts

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, This Week's Matchup Report, General Colts Chatter by admin on Friday 4 December 2009 at 10:43 am

These are two hot football teams that will be playing each other this Sunday.  The Titans have won five in a row while the Colts have won all 11 of their games so far this season.  These two teams also contrast in styles on offense so this should be a great game to watch.  The Colts pounded the Titans 31-9 in Tennessee earlier this season but that seems like a long, long time ago.  The Titans will come out running the ball with Chris Johnson against a Colts’ D that is allowing 108.9 yards rushing and 4.2 yards per carry.  The Colts will need to contain Johnson and keep him from getting to the edges of the D or they will be in big trouble.  The Colts will also have to worry about Vince Young sending all of his WRs deep and then taking off running which he has been really effective at this season.  The Titans will likely use ball control passing throwing a lot of short passes in the middle of the field.

The Titans are still having issues on pass defense as they are allowing 266.7 yards this season so look for Peyton Manning to attack them down the field.  The Colts’ O-Line has blocked great for Manning this season as he has only been sacked 10 times this whole year.  Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark will likely have good games but the player to watch in this game for the Colts in the passing game will be Pierre Garcon who has been electric lately.  The Colts will likely just keep passing and passing in this game to take the Titans out of there gameplan on offense.  Joseph Addai will get his touches but don’t expect him to have a big game.

PREDICTION:  COLTS 27,  TITANS 21

Chad Simpson is making the most of his playing time for the Indianapolis Colts

Blogged under Steppin Up, Bloglockers, Front Page, General Colts Chatter by admin on Wednesday 2 December 2009 at 12:53 pm

24-year old RB Chad Simpson is third in line for carries on the Colts behind Joseph Addai and Donald Brown, but, he’s still making the most of his opportunities to play.  He has played in 10 games for the Colts this season and he has carried the ball 15 times for 102 yards (6.8 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  Simpson also has caught 1 pass for 2 yards this year.  Simpson also has helped out on special teams for the Colts this season.  He has returned 26 kickoffs for 553 yards (21.3 avg) and he has 2 tackles this year.  The Colts have to feel good about having Simpson around as he helps out whenever he’s called upon.
