The over/under for the Indianapolis Colts in 2008 is 11 wins

The Colts have a good football team but other AFC teams have improved while the Colts have taken a small step backwards.  With Peyton Manning gimpy for the start of the season I can’t recommend taking the over.  Because, if he goes down to injury the Colts are toast.

The Indianapolis Colts lose safety Brannon Condren to the Rams on waivers

The Colts have lost 2nd year safety Brannon Condren on waivers to the Rams.  Condren played well in the preseason for the Colts.  In 5 games in the preseason he made 26 tackles, defensed 2 passes and he intercepted 2 passes.  But, Condren didn’t show much as a rookie for the Colts last season as he made 5 tackles in 8 games.  The Colts won’t lose any sleep with Condren on the team in 2008.

The Indianapolis Colts lose starting center Jeff Saturday

The Colts have lost starting center Jeff Saturday for at least the next six weeks due to ligament damage to his right knee.  This is a huge blow to the Colts’ offense as Saturday is Peyton Manning’s bodyguard up the middle.  The Colts will likely start rookie Steve Justice at center so expect a pretty big dropoff in pass protection early in the year.  The Colts better hope that Justice is a quick learner.

The Indianapolis Colts release RB Clifton Dawson again

The Colts have released RB Clifton Dawson for the second time this season already.  He carried the football 7 times for 20 yards (2.9 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 6 yards.  The Colts were just to keep to justify carrying Dawson on the final roster.

The Indianapolis Colts place CB/KR T.J. Rushing on the Injured Reserve List

The Colts have placed special teamer T.J. Rushing on the Injured Reserve List with ligament damage.  Rushing has played in 20 games in his two years  with the Colts and he has made 24 tackles and has defensed 1 pass.  Where the Colts will likely miss Rushing is in the kick return game.  Rushing has returned 33 kickoffs in his NFL career for 781 yards (23.7 avg) and he has returned 21 punts for 263 yards (12.5 avg) with 1 TD return.
