The Colts looked like they didn’t even care in this game.  Jared Lorenzen was not good in this game as he completed 9 of 16 passes for 91 yards with a interception.  Quinn Gray was even worse completing 3 of 12 passes for 37 yards.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 14 yards (7.0 ypc) but he lost a fumble.  RB Chad Simpson led the Colts in rushing in this game with 17 yards on 6 carries (2.8 ypc).  WR Courtney Roby only caught 1 pass for 24 yards but he was really effective on special teams in this game.  Roby scored on a 103-yard kickoff return for a TD in this game as he finished with 3 kickoffs for 170 yards (56.7 avg).  The Colts finished this game with 41 yards rushing on 19 carries (2.2 ypc) and they also completed 12 of 28 passes for 113 yards.

Safety Bannon Condren and linebacker Philip Wheeler led the Colts on defense with 7 tackles apiece.  The Bengals finished up with 171 yards rushing on 38 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 26 passes for 130 yards.  The Colts finished 1-4 this preseason but they don’t have any reasons to worry unless Peyton Manning gets injured.

To borrow some words from Jim Mora the Colts absolutely sucked last Sunday Night.  Quinn Gray was really awful as he completed 8 of 16 passes for 158 yards with 1 TD pass and 4 interceptions.  The TD pass was impressive as it covered 94 yards by WR Devin Aromashodu but it didn’t overshadow the pickoffs.  Jared Lorenzen was so-so completing 7 of 11 passes for 52 yards in this game.  Joseph Addai had a rough night as he lost a fumble that CB Terrence McGee of the Bills returned 68 yards for a TD.  Addai finished up with 23 yards rushing on 5 carries (4.6 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 16 yards (5.3 avg).  The Colts finished up with 32 yards rushing on 12 carries (2.7 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 27 passes for 201 yards.  The Colts only had possession of the football for 17:06 in this game and that is absolutely pathetic.

The Colts defense did not play that bad when you consider that the Bills had the ball for 42:54.  DE Ben Ishola led the way for the Colts defense in this game with 7 tackles.  DT Eric Foster also had a good game with 5 tackles and 1 sack against the Bills.  The Bills finished up with 100 yards rushing on 42 carries (2.4 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 29 passes for 154 yards.

The Colts didn’t play great in Atlanta on Saturday but it was good enough to win.  Jim Sorgi had his best game of the preseason as he completed 7 of 12 passes for 67 yards.  Quinn Gray was solid as he completed 8 of 15 passes for 100 yards.  Jared Lorenzen had another night to forget as he only completed 4 of 10 passes for 52 yards with 1 interception.  Kenton Keith led the way for the Colts against the Falcons with 26 yards rushing on 5 carries (5.2 ypc).  Rookie Mike Hart pitched in with 19 yards on 5 carries (3.8 ypc).  Rookie TE Jacob Tamme led the Colts with 57 yards receiving on 3 catches (19.0 avg) and rookie WR Pierre Garcon pitched in with 3 grabs for 41 yards (13.7 avg).  The Colts finished up with 118 yards rushing on 35 carries (3.4 ypc) against the Falcons on Saturday.  They also completed 19 of 37 passes for 207 yards in this game.  The Colts had better hope that Peyton Manning is ready to go week #1 or they could be in trouble.

CB Kelvin Hayden had a solid game with 4 tackles and he also intercepted a Matt Ryan pass which he returned 67 yards for a TD.  Safety Brannon Condren also had a really solid game with 1 tackle and 2 interceptions.  The Colts’ run defense was putrid against the Falcons as they rushed for 166 yards on 24 carries (6.9 ypc).  The Falcons also completed 15 of 28 passes for 152 yards against the Colts.  Despite getting pushed around in the running game the Colts only gave up 9 points and that’s a really good sign.

Tony Dungy was thinking about retirement after last season but he just couldn’t get the taste out of his mouth about the way last year ended with a 28-24 home loss in the playoffs to the Chargers.  Dungy will have some injury issues to deal with as Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison are both recovering from major surgeries.  The Colts proved that they can win without Harrison last season but if Manning misses any time this year, Dungy will wish he retired.  Dungy has been great as head coach of the Colts as he is 73-23 (76%) during the regular season the last six years.  He has also compiled a 7-5 record (58.3%) in the post season for the Colts including a Super Bowl Championship in 2006 over the Bears.  Dungy has redeemed himself in Indianapolis after pretty much getting run out of town in Tampa with the Bucs winning the Super Bowl the year after he left under Jon Gruden.  Dungy has now been a NFL head coach for 12 seasons in which he has compiled a 127-65 (66.1%) regular season record and a 9-9 (50%) post season record.  Look for Dungy to lead the Colts to another good season as long as Peyton Manning is healthy.

The Colts have released running back Clifton Dawson but this should come as no surprise as the Colts have at least 4 running backs better than him on the roster.  Dawson played in 11 games for the Colts last season and he carried the ball 30 times for 64 yards (2.1 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 2 passes for 15 yards (7.5 avg) last season.  The Colts won’t miss Dawson much even if he hooks on with another team.
