The Indianapolis Colts sign RB Justise Hairston

The Colts have signed rookie running back Justise Hairston and they’ve placed him on the Practice Squad. He didn’t make the Patriots due to a hamstring injury but the Colts felt they needed more depth at running back with Joseph Addai hurting. Hairston played his first couple of seasons at Rutgers and they he transferred to Central Connecticut so that he would get more playing time and he exploded. Hairston carried the ball 277 times for 1,847 yards (6.7 ypc) with 20 TD runs! Hairston isn’t much of a pass catcher as he only caught 5 passes for 58 yards (11.6 avg). He often only plays on running downs. Hairston also could pitch in on special teams for the Patriots as he returned 16 punts for 136 yards (8.5 avg) and he returned 7 kickoffs for 157 (22.4 avg). Hairston is 6′2″, 222 pounds and he runs a 40 in 4.58 seconds. He has not played in a NFL game yet.

The Indianapolis Colts will likely be without strong safety Bob Sanders this Sunday

The Colts will likely be without starting strong safety Bob Sanders who has a problem with his ribs. He has made 28 tackles and has 2 sacks so far this season. The Colts will really miss Sanders on run defense where he’s a force. Matt Giordano will start on Sunday against the Bucs. He has 7 tackles and a interception that he returned 83 yards for a TD.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, This Week's Matchup Report, General Colts Chatter by dawgpounded on Friday 5 October 2007 at 6:54 pm
The Tampa Bay Bucs have gotten off to an impressive 3-1 start which has them on top of the NFL South Division which is a huge surprise. They have achieved that record by running the football and playing good defense. The Colts are now 4-0 on the season but they have suffered a lot of injuries as of late that will effect them in this ball game.

The Colts will likely be without strong safety Bob Sanders and that is a huge blow to their run defense. The Colts have allowed 127.5 yards rushing per game and 4.5 yards per carry so the Bucs will likely try to take advantage of that weakness. Michael Pittman (170 yards rushing, 78 yards receiving) and Ernest Graham (136 yards rushing, 4.5 ypc, 3 TDs) will attack the Colts defense early and often. After the Bucs establish their running game look for Jeff Garcia to run some play action passes and attack the Colts secondary deep with Ike Hilliard (15 rec, 246 yards) and Joey Galloway (14 rec, 256 yards).

The Colts will likely go to the air more than they have so far this season. Peyton Manning has been outstanding as usual as he has completed 86 of 128 (67.2%) passes for 1,066 yards with 8 TD passes and 1 interception (110.4 QB Rating). The Colts will likely be without Joseph Addai and Marvin Harrison so they need other players to step up. RB Kenton Keith has played well as a reserve this season as he has carried the ball 23 times for 134 yards (5.8 ypc) so he should be able to find some running room against a Bucs defense that is allowing 118.3 yards rushing per game and 4.0 yards per carry. Reggie Wayne (21 rec, 307 yards) and tight end Dallas Clark (19 rec, 251 yards) will likely be Manning’s main targets. But, keep your eyes on first round pick Anthony Gonzalez who could have his best game as a pro.

PREDICTION: This game will be much closer than the 11 point spread. The Bucs will make a game of this but I like the Colts to win by a field goal.

The Indianapolis Colts could be without Marvin Harrison this week against the Bucs

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Colts News, Injury Reports, General Colts Chatter by dawgpounded on Thursday 4 October 2007 at 4:07 pm

The Colts could be without WR Marvin Harrison for this weekend’s game against the Bucs. He suffered a knee strain last week against the Broncos and he hasn’t practiced all week. Harrison has caught 17 passes for 231 yards (13.6 avg) with 1 TD grab. He will likely be replaced in the starting lineup by Aaron Moorehead who only has 1 catch for 5 yards this season. Look for the Colts to go to Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and Anthony Gonzalez even more than usual with Harrison possibly out of the game.

The Indianapolis Colts lose OLB Rob Morris for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Colts News, Injury Reports, General Colts Chatter by dawgpounded on Tuesday 2 October 2007 at 6:12 pm

The Colts will be without outside linebacker Rob Morris for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL. This will hurt the Colts defense big-time as Morris was one of the best defenders the Colts had against the run. He finishes the season with 13 tackles. Rocky Boiman will take over for Morris as a starting OLB on the Colts. He has 6 tackles and 1 interception so far this season.
