Indianapolis Colts vs. Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos are the luckiest 2-1 football team football team in the NFL as they could just as easily be 0-3 and they are flying to Indianapolis to play the defending World Champions. The Colts have been challenged in the last two games, but they won their only home game 41-10 over the Saints this season.

The Broncos would love to keep the ball on the ground this week. That will be easier said than done against the improved Colts’ defense that is allowing only 95.7 yards rushing per game and 3.7 yards per carry. But, Travis Henry (302 yards rushing, 5.0 ypc, TD) has been outstanding this season. He is the key as the Broncos need to control the clock and lessen the pressure on Jay Cutler to make big plays. Still, Cutler does have three nice receivers to throw to in Javon Walker (19 rec, 230 yards), Brandon Marshall (17 rec, 267 yards, TD) and Brandon Stokley (9 rec, 144 yards) so the Colts must get pressure on Cutler.

The Colts will no doubt be foaming at the mouth to run the football all over the Broncos defense which is allowing 166.0 yards rushing per game and 4.6 yards per carry. Joseph Addai (271 yards rushing, 4.2 ypc, 4 TDs) should have a field day running behind the solid offensive line of the Colts this week. Don’t expect Peyton Manning to back down from the Broncos pass defense which is only allowing 88.3 yards passing per game! Look for Manning to attack CBs Champ Bailey and Dre’ Bly with WRs Reggie Wayne (16 rec, 269 yards, 2 TDs) and Marvin Harrison (16 rec, 223 yards, 1 TD). The Colts will also attack the safeties of the Broncos with TE Dallas Clark (13 rec, 175 yards, 2 TDs).

PREDICTION: Look for the Broncos to get smoked pretty badly in this game. They don’t have the offensive firepower to deal with the Colts who have a much improved defense.
