6′0″, 245 pound Luke Lawton finds himself at the top of the Colts’ depth chart at the fullback position. The bad news for Lawton is that the Colts rarely use a fullback in their offense. Lawton has played in 4 games in his two year NFL career and he hasn’t run the football or caught a pass yet.

The Indianapolis Colts waive John Navarre

The Colts have waived John Navarre which pretty much makes Josh Betts the new third string QB. The Colts haven’t used a 3rd string QB in a long time so this probably won’t matter much.

The Indianapolis Colts lose Anthony McFarland for likely the entire 2007 season

It’s possible that defensive tackle Anthony “Booger” McFarland will be placed on the IR list soon after suffering a patellar tendon injury last week in pactice. This would be a huge blow to the Colts’ defense as McFarland played decent in the middle for them last season. He played in all 16 games last season and he made 41 tackles, had 2.5 sacks and recovered 1 fumble.

Look for Adam Vinatieri to continue being money in the bank for the Indianapolis Colts

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General Colts Chatter by dawgpounded on Sunday 5 August 2007 at 1:01 pm

Adam Vinatieri was outstanding for the Colts last season which was just what they expected he would be. Vinatieri nailed 89.3% of his field goal attempts and all 38 of his extra points as he finished with 113 points last season. Vinatieri hit 16 of 17 field goal attempts of 39 yards or less and 9 of 11 of 40+ yards which shows what kind of leg he still has.

Vinatieri has now played in 173 games in his NFL career and he has scored 1,269 points for an average of 7.3 points per game. Vinatieri has made 288 of 349 (82.5%) of his career field goals and 405 of 412 extra points. Look for him to pad his career numbers this season for the Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts release DT Corey Simon

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Colts News, General Colts Chatter by dawgpounded on Saturday 4 August 2007 at 1:36 pm

The Colts have released defensive tackle Corey Simon. He didn’t play a down last season for the Colts. In 2005 Simon played in 13 games with the Colts and he made 34 tackles, defensed 2 passes and forced a fumble. The Colts won’t miss Simon at all in 2007.
