The Indianapolis Colts re-sign linebacker Rocky Boiman

The linebackers have re-signed reserve linebacker Rocky Boiman. Boiman played in all 16 games for the Colts last season and he made 20 tackles, had an interception, defensed a pass and forced a fumble. This was a good move for the Colts as he gives their defense decent depth and he can help out on special teams.

The Indianapolis Colts are on the clock………

Blogged under Bloglockers, The Draft Report, Front Page, General Colts Chatter by dawgpounded on Sunday 15 April 2007 at 5:59 pm

I have conducted a complete 7 round draft for every team in the NFL. If you want to see what I have projected for any other team in the NFL, click on the team name in the right hand margin and go to the team’s Draft Report page if you don’t see the article on the front page of the site. This was a lot of work so I hope you enjoy it.

The Colts will likely be looking for offense early in the draft and defense in the middle-to-late rounds. They likely will be successful and here’s who I see playing for Tony Dungy this season:

1. (32)Â Steve Smith, WR, USC

3. (95)Â Darius Walker, RB, Notre Dame

3. (98)Â Nate Harris, MLB, Louisville

4. (131)Â J.B. Blades, MLB, Pittsburgh

4. (136)Â Derek Landri, DT, Notre Dame

5. (169)Â Michael Okwo, OLB, Stanford

5. (173)Â Mansfield Wrotto, OG, Georgia Tech

7. (242)Â Dallas Sartz, OLB, USC

The Colts would be very happy with this draft. Smith would slide in a their #3 WR and Walker would give Addai a break when he needs one.Â

The Indianapolis Colts re-sign QB Jim Sorgi

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General Colts Chatter by dawgpounded on Saturday 14 April 2007 at 12:52 pm

The Colts have re-signed QB Jim Sorgi to a 1-year contract. He has played in 10 games in his career for the Colts and he’s completed 59 of 90 (65.6%) passes for 619 yards with 5 TD passes and 1 INT (QB Rating 99.3). He also has carried the football 20 times for -4 yards (-0.2 ypc), but in his defense he was neeling on the ball a lot at the end of games. The Colts did bring in competition for Sorgi when they signed John Navarre so he will have to win the backup job this season instead of just getting it haned to him. That’s good because competition usually can bring out the best in someone and it’s good for the team overall.

The Indianapolis Colts re-sign TE Ben Utecht

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Colts News, General Colts Chatter by dawgpounded on Thursday 12 April 2007 at 9:31 am

The Colts have re-signed Ben Utecht. This was a smart move as Utecht was the Colts secret weapon on offense all of last season. He played in 15 games and he caught 37 passes for 377 yards (10.2 avg). Peyton Manning loves to throw to his tightends whenever his wideouts are covered so Utecht and Dallas Clark are both big-time weapons in the Colts overall arsenal on offense.

The Indianpolis Colts sign old friend Rick DeMulling

The Colts have signed guard Rick DeMulling who has played the last two seasons in Detroit. He played 14 games with the Lions last season and he started 7 of them. DeMulling played his first four seasons in the NFL with the Colts. He played in 48 games (41 starts) over those 4 seasons. He is 6′4″, 304 pounds and does a really good job of both run and pass blocking. He will help the Colts defend their title.
