Today is a good example of why the Colts spent the money to lure Adam Vinatieri away from the Patriots, because he’s money with the game on the line. Vinatieri kicked a 37 yard FG with 2 seconds left to seal another Colts victory. Peyton Manning had an outstanding game against the Broncos “tough” defense. Manning completed 32 of 39 passes for 345 yards and 3 TDs. Joseph Addai got most of the carries in the running game, toting the ball 17 times for 93 yards (5.5 ypc) and he caught 5 passes for 37 yards. Dominic Rhodes carried the ball 3 times for 0 yards, but he caught 3 passes for 43 yards. WR Reggie Wayne was the main man for Manning this week, catching 10 passes for 138 yards and 3 TDs!!!! TE Dallas Clark chipped in 6 catches for 68 yards. Marvin Harrison was bottled up by the Broncos defense, catching 5 passes for 38 yards.

The Colts were lucky that Manning & Co. had a great game, because the defense was pathetic again! LB Gary Brackett came to play with 12 tackles and a 1/2 sack, but most of his buddies on the defense were AWOL! The Broncos rushed for 227 yards in 36 carries (6.3 ypc)! The Broncos completed 13 of 21 passes for 169 net yards passing.

The Colts are starting to click on all cylinders on offense and are averaging 28.5 points per game. The Colts running game is starting to pick up as they now are averaging 111.2 yards rushing and 3.9 yards per carry. The Colts are throwing the ball well, as usual, putting up 261.8 net yards passing per game and completing 63.6% of their passes.

The defense has stunk for the Colts so far this season allowing 20.3 points per game. The Colts run defense has been downright pathetic, allowing 158.0 yards rushing per game and 5.2 yards per carry. The Colts pass defense also has been lousy, as teams complete 66.3% of their pass attempts for 167.3 net yards passing.

Someone’s winning streak is gonna end on Sunday! The Colts are standing at 6-0 this season, while the Broncos have ridden a five game winning streak to the top of their division at 5-1.

The Broncos defense is only allowing 7.3 points per game, but they haven’t played a team with an offense the caliber of the Indianapolis Colts. Look for the Colts to send their two-headed running back, Joseph Addai (354 yards rushing) and Dominic Rhodes (299 yards rushing) at the heart of the Broncos defense that allows 90.3 yards rushing per game and 3.6 yards per carry. The Colts will then attack the Broncos secondary, including Champ Bailey! Peyton Manning (1,620 yards, 12 TDs) has made it a habit of having big games against the Broncos…..usually in the playoffs. Marvin Harrison (39 rec, 515 yards) and Reggie Wayne (28 rec, 504 yards) could each have big games against the slightly over-rated Bronco defense.

Look for the Broncos to be very vanilla on offense again. The Broncos strength (running the ball) matches perfectly with the Colts defense (defending the run). Look for Denver to give the rock to Tatum Bell (585 yards rushing) until he gets tired. Then they will put in Mike Bell and keep running the ball. The Colts pass defense hasn’t been to good either (89.1 opponents QB rating), so the Broncs might take a few shots down field to Javon Walker (29 rec, 495 yards) and Rod Smith (22 rec, 205 yards).Â

This should be a good football game. If the Colts get an early lead and take the Broncos out of their preferred offense..the Colts will win the game. If the Broncos get their running game going and get a lead, they should win the game.

The Colts defense hasn’t played well all season and now it has lost two key parts. Safety Mike Doss is out for the season after tearing his ACL against the Redskins on Sunday. Starting DT Montae Reagor fractured the orbital bone near his eye during a car accident on Sunday. He needed 35 stitches to close the wound and will require surgery. Reagor could miss most of the rest of the season.

The Colts got aggressive on offense and put away the Redskins quickly. Peyton Manning completed 25 of 35 passes for 342 yards with 4 TDs. Joseph Addai continues to look good running the ball with 11 carries for 85 yards (7.7 ypc). Dominic Rhodes had a rougher time with 13 carries for 26 yards (2.0 ypc). WR Reggie Wayne had a great game, catching 7 passes for 122 yards and a TD. Marvin Harrison caught 7 passes for 73 yards and 2 TDs. TE Ben Utecht caught 4 passes for 52 yards and Dallas Clark caught 2 passes for 41 yards and a TD.

LB Cato June led the way on defense with 15 tackles! The Colts still had trouble stopping the run as the Skins carried the ball 24 times for 114 yards (4.8 ypc). The Skins completed 27 of 37 passes for 211 net yards passing. The Colts also allowed Randle El to return a punt 87 yards for a TD.

A nice, easy win for the Colts.
